Alif Layila

Etched glass, chandeliers and plush furnishings gives almost a palatial air to this restaurant which specialises in Moghul cuisine. As few cuisines can match the sheer varity of Moghul cuisine in proportion and regional variations, patrons can surely appreciate the authenticity found here.

There is a wide range of selections of appetisers, breads, curries, mains, vegetables and desserts to choose from. The house speciality includes the Raan Akbari which needs a days notice to prepare. Said to be a personal favourite of King Akbar who was one of the rulers of the Moghul Empire, this recipe calls for a whole leg of lamb marinated in spices and roasted in the tandoor.

Another dish said to be a favourite of King Shah Jahan is the Murg Mussalam Shahjahaani which needs a 2 hour notice. This dish requires chicken meat to be marinated in a rich creamy gravy and mild spiced mutton, cooked in basmati rice and sprinkled with dried nuts.

Other Moghul rulers also have dishes dedicated in their name. There are also dishes with distinct cooking styles of Lahore, Central Asia, Northern Pakistani region and Punjab.
